Our ASO team achieved a 1420% ROI from a single iOS app. The team has been working with this traffic source for over five years, publishing 35+ apps per month and actively maintaining over 20 highly profitable bundles in the App Store.

ASO, Lucky Jet

Okay, so what’s iOS-149? It’s simply the internal name for another app, this time based on the Lucky Jet slot. That’s what we thought when we noticed the growing popularity of the in-house slot on 1win.

App lifetime stats:

Interestingly, the app lived for 304 days, with main traffic flowing from early May to late August 2023. We got over 120 days of active traffic and more than 184 days of the app sitting at low positions with minimal incentivized installs.

A traffic spike happened in early May 2023 when the App Store cracked down and banned most branded/slot apps associated with 1win. But not ours: iOS-149 proved resilient and didn’t trigger suspicion thanks to low activity and a high-quality “white” portion.

When we noticed the sharp traffic increase and the lack of competition, we went all in to maintain the app at Top-1. It was clear that this was a hidden gem — an app that had sat unnoticed for nearly six months and slipped past moderators during cleanups. Such cases tend to live the longest: the app stops raising red flags and ends up on an unofficial “whitelist”, allowing you to harvest huge traffic while keeping competitors at bay.

Our app indexed for all relevant keywords — it stayed at Top-1 in three CIS countries for almost three months. We spent only $26,656 for the entire lifespan, which is not much considering the high competition.

Indexed keywords:

  • 1win / 1 win
  • 1вин / 1 вин

At the peak, these keywords generated 3,000–4,000 installs daily. On average throughout the period, installs were around 1,700 per day.

The traffic came at an average $30–35 per FD — rates varied depending on the period and players’ GEO.

Let’s break down the app itself:

Naming: "Краш лаки джет"

Icon:

Graphic:

Concept: We combined a classic jetpack-style game with Lucky Jet aesthetics.The app disguised itself as a genuine game, fully associated with the Lucky Jet brand — an in-house game actively promoted by internal marketing and affiliate teams.

Development stack:

  • Unity: For the “white” app and all game content.
  • Swift: For the build and cloaking.

App upload stages:

Because the graphics fit seamlessly into the slot’s theme, and the slot wasn’t overly saturated at the time, we didn’t need a three-stage upload process.

We skipped uploading just “white graphics” because the app initially appeared as a normal game:

  1. Upload the white app to the store.

  2. Push an update with a “grey” build.

  3. Done. 😇 Currently, we upload in a minimum of three stages with additional tricks for graphics and builds.

Development cost: Approximately $650

💡 Fun fact: In our pipeline:

  • iOS app cost = $650 (individual developer account)
  • iOS app cost = $900 (company developer account)

By “app,” we mean one upload attempt to the store. Not every app passes moderation on the final update. Even with many optimization tricks, a 75–85% success rate is considered excellent.

Why was there so much search volume?

Mostly thanks to the brand’s media exposure and active PR campaigns promoting the in-house crash game to a mass audience — via brand ambassadors and influencers. Which brings us back to A. Tamaev’s quote at the beginning:

At the beginning of 2023, CIS audiences started asking: “What’s this Lucky Jet?”. Influencers told them you could make money in the game. Search frequency increased even earlier, but the biggest influx of users to the App Store happened at the end of the summer when trust barriers were overcome.

Influencer media exposure was also heavily “parasited” by FB affiliates who used their content, created bots like “hack Lucky Jet,” and other shady strategies.When launched “at scale,” these greatly warmed up the audience and boosted both the brand’s and the slot’s search volumes.

Pro Tip

💡 This approach still works today! Just a few weeks ago, we successfully pushed a similar app to Top-1/2. It generated 50–60 deposits daily — pretty impressive for one ASO app.
